The Wild Burro Rescue and Preservation Project is dedicated to the live capture-rescue, rehabilitation and lifelong care of otherwise doomed Wild Burros.
We are a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit Organization, which means that all your donations are tax-deductible up to your personal tax limits. We are not Government funded. In fact, we do not receive any money from Government sources, so the burros depend entirely on you and your generous donations. Our Sanctuary is home to 215 wild burros (donkeys), mules, horses, dogs, cats and lots of wildlife.
Presently our Sanctuary is the only safe place for our animals. We hope that one day our wild burros and horses can return into the wilderness, the land that is rightfully theirs, to live free and safe on their own.
Currently, without Wild Burro Rescue, our animals have no place to go.
Our Sanctuary is located on 130 acres in the High Sierras on the foothill of Mount Whitney on Highway 395.
We welcome visitors! Please call ahead if you would like to visit us!
