Dear Friends and supporters,

Diana Chontos

The sun is setting for today. All of our animals are fed and taken care of.  Now it is time to relax.

We are receiving phone calls almost every week from people especially the elderly who cannot afford to take care of their burros. The cost of transportation of their burros to our sanctuary and to rehabilitate them when they arrive is expensive money. We hope with your generous donations we can continue to help these burros.
Thanks to all of you for your support. Without your help there would be no Wild Burro Rescue. It was in 1991 when we started Wild Burro Rescue and Preservation Project. This organization was needed in order to rescue burros from death row. Many of these burros are still with us, living a peaceful life at our sanctuary. They are now senior burros, and senior means extra care, needing extra senior food, which has additional vitamins and minerals. Our veterinarian has to visit them more often, to take care of them. All of this senior care cost additional money, at a time when funds are tight. The hay prices are still up, we have to pay around $6,000.00 per month. All our animals are like family members to us and we take care of them. Please help us with your donations.

Many of our newly rescued burros are younger. Meet "Sunni" her mommy was wild. She gave birth to Sunni and abandoned her at 5 days old. Another female attacked Sunni and her mother did not protect her. We had to take Sunni to the veterinarian. On the way driving, Sunni sat on Roxanne's lap. Roxanne was singing "You are my Sunshine". This is how she got her name "SUNNI'. Shirley a volunteer at the rescue fed Sunni every 3 hours in a horse trailer where both stayed together during the night. A picture of Shirley and Sunny in the horse trailer is below. Sunni is so loved and special to us.

Also on our website we have a sponsor gallery.  Some of our burros are older and have special needs. Sponsoring a burro would be a great gift for someone you love.
